Proposal for Green Jobs

Just in case you were scanning the congressional agenda for environmentally friendly proposals, skip over the ones about emissions and energy and stop at the Green Jobs Act of 2007. As we first told you in May, this proposal could help train a generation of employees to install solar panels, put wind turbines together, and grow biofuels.

According to an article in the Huffington Post:

This ground-breaking legislation will make $120 million a year available across the country to begin training workers (and would-be workers) for jobs in the clean energy sector. When the bill becomes law, 35,000 people a year will benefit from cutting edge, vocational education in fields that could literally save the Earth.

Credit goes to a handful of democratic representatives who are hoping that legislation could help create jobs and benefit the environment. Still, there’s really no telling what will happen because the House of Representatives still has to determine if they think it’s a good idea.

It will probably take more than 35,000 people to save the earth; but hey, Captain Planet was only one guy and he saved the world every episode.
