Ballooning Carbon Emissions

Ever want to see how much carbon monoxide one car emits into the atmosphere each day? Look no further. As part of the World Wildlife Fund’s 20 tips for sustainable development campaign, activists in China blew up a big, black balloon sticking out of a car’s tailpipe to show people just how much of the pollutant a vehicle can spew into the air.

On the campaign website the WWF lists tips like use a solar-powered water heater and ride a bike to live a more sustainable lifestyle. It also offers an energy quiz. Although the questions are easy, the answers offer a wealth of information about what even the smallest actions can do to preserve energy.

Although the WWF might not demonstrate all of its tips with such artistic flare, it does get the point across. Maybe that looming black cloud isn’t such a bad thing.
