Waste Not

A line of paper products made from animal poop that doesn’t look—or smell—like, well, you-know-what? Believe it. The conservation-minded—and ridiculously transparently named—Great Elephant Poo Poo Paper Company makes stationery, journals and other paper goods using the fibrous remains of elephant dung. How? First, they collect dried dung from conservation parks. Then, they rinse and boil the stuff until only the fibrous bits remain. Finally, they flatten what’s left (along with some other natural fibers), dry it in the sun for a few hours and then it’s a photo album or pack of notecards waiting to happen. Epoo (sounds cuter, no?) currently makes over 150 unique items, and they’re planning to expand their collection soon. We can’t wait to see what comes down the chute next. --Jessica Tzerman
