Treasure Island

1399

Like many an eco-conscious designer, jewelry maker John Hardy has been much beguiled by bamboo's versatility. But his love for the fast-growing grass isn't only expressed in his line of luxury, hand-crafted creations: Last year, the Bali-based Hardy launched an effort to reforest the Indonesian island of Nusa Penida by planting an abundance of bamboo. To help fund his efforts, the designer is offering a limited-edition collection of silver bracelets, bangles, and earrings treasures, from which 10 percent of the proceeds will go toward the planting of bamboo.  The collection's priciest piece (a $795 cuff) will provide nearly 30 seedlings for Nusa Penida.
