Design Within Reach, known for making modern design relatively affordable, has announced the winners of its Fourth Annual Champagne Chair Contest, where amateur designers are challenged to make a four-inch by four-inch chair using only the wire, label, cork and foil of two post-New Year’s Eve champagne bottles. Out of more than 1,000 entries hailing from as far away as Bangkok, Seattle-native Adam Weisgerber won the grand prize with his “Cantilever Block,” a modernist-style seat carved from two corks glued together. Check out all the miniature masterpieces for yourself when they embark on a national tour of DWR Studio stores—go to www.dwr.com/champagne for a complete list of dates and locations. Cheers!
