UK Game Trust Calls for Grey Partridge Protection

Grey partridge populations in the UK have dropped 86% in the last 30 years, according to the Game Conservancy Trust, which is calling for immediate action to protect the game bird from extinction in Great Britain. Habitat loss and an increased number of predators are cited as causes of this dramatic drop. The Trust's action plan to protect the species includes "creating suitable habitats, controlling predators, providing food during the winter, counting bird numbers and reducing the use of insecticides," according to a report in MeatInfo ("the online meat trades journal").
