Japan's Rarest Wildcat Gets Even Rarer

The Iriomote cat is now "critically endangered," according to Japan's Ministry the Environment. The rare wildcat lives on tiny Iriomote Jima island, where its numbers have been in stead decline for decades. A new study shows that the population may be even smaller than thought, as habitat destruction and road-kill deaths have taken a recent toll.
