Artificial Insemination Technique Gives Hope to Endangered Species

The first non-surgical artificial insemination of an endangered blackbuck antelope -- and resulting birth of a fawn -- has scientists hopeful that the technique can benefit other endangered species.

Scientists from the Laboratory for Conservation of Endangered Species at the Centre for Cellular Molecular Biology say this is the first time that a non-invasive technique has led to the birth of live young.

India's Central Zoo Authority has now approved the technique for use in other species.
