Mountain Gorillas Slain in Congo

Four endangered mountain gorillas were found shot this week in Virunga National Park in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Despite valiant efforts to protect the gorillas, there have now been seven killings in the last seven months: three silverback males and four females. With just 150 gorillas in the park, this represents a loss of nearly 5% of the population, and 1% of the total population of mountain gorillas in the wild.
