WWF names ten most threatened species

The WWF has once again released its list of the ten plant and animal species most threatened by illegal trade. Tigers top the list, thanks to efforts underway in China to lift or relax the ban on trading products made from tiger parts.

The other nine species are the porbeagle shark, sawfish, spiny dogfish, red and pink coral, Asian rhinos, European eel, elephants, great apes and bigleaf mahogany.

Related news: As the New Straits Times reports, five of the 10 animals and plants most threatened by the illegal wildlife trade are in Malaysia.
