"Neighbors gone, fruits gone, species gone"


A new study published in The American Naturalist proves just how interconnected species can be in an ecosystem. The study examined the trochetia blackburniana, a rare Mauritian plant that depends on a species of gecko for pollination. The gecko, in turn, relies upon another plant for its own food source. Take one item out of the equation and they all suffer.
