Can math help save endangered species?

Yes, at least in certain circumstances, according to a new study published in the journal Physical Review Letters.

The study looks at the behavior of both predator and prey and  "describes a stable model that includes migration and determines the precise mechanism that prevents extinction" when one species eats another one into oblivion.
