Where did the spoon-billed sandpiper go?
Conservationists have a mystery on their hands. Why has the population of the spoon-billed sandpiper declined by 80% over the last 30 years? The usual culpits are in the line-up -- pollution, urban expansion, etc -- but the perp looking best for the crime is the decline of wetlands along the bird's migratory path.
