Rare Idaho cod breeds in plastic

With fewer than 40 wild Kootenai River burbot (a rare, coldwater codfish) left, and no success in breeding them in captivity, scientists knew they had to do something to protect the rare species and boost its population. Enter plastc vats, the size of hot tubs, but cooled to just above freezing. Lo and behold, the burbot started breeding.

The next challenge? Figuring out what to feed the baby fish.
