VietNam scientists breed rare newt


VietNam's Tam Dao newt bears a distinction that sets it apart from most other amphibians: it has a tail. Unfortunately, that makes it a target for hunters, who sell the newts or put them in wine (ooookay). With populations shrinking and habitat also disappearing, the Tam Dao does have one bit of good news: scientists in Hanoi are working hard to develop a breeding program.
